SNETTERTON - MRO ROUND
4.
2nd - 3rd JULY 2005.
Triple MMM Racing
Dissapointment.
GP Wildcard
- Bad News.
After the good
results at Silverstone, Andy was selected by the MRO as a wildcard
entry for the British 250cc GrandPrix at Donington park. We tried to
enter last season, but were unable to do so due to applying too
late. Again this season, we were to be dissapointed.
Our governing
body - the A.C.U decided in their "wisdom", to not to allow ANY of
the three wildcard applicants to compete by refusing their start
permissions. All they would say is that none of the applicants were
"Of a suitable standard to compete".
Last season,
the MRO champion - Lee Dickinson, qualified well within the maximum
time, and managed to finish the race in a respectable position. This
season, Andy has ridden faster lap times at all the circuits than
Lee. Which goes to show that Andy would probably have made the
qualifying time.
At the end of the day, if the riders don't make the qualification
time, they are not allowed to race. Surely this should be the only
deciding factor in whether the riders are allowed to compete.
The ACU made their decision in a closed meeting, where none of the
applicants were allowed to put forward any arguments as to why they
should be allowed to enter the world stage as a wildcard entry.
The MRO 250 championship is the highest standard of 250gp racing in
the country, so anyone in the top 3 places should be given the
chance to try at the highest level.
We would however like publicly to thank all the people who work for
our championship organisers - the MRO for their hard work trying to
get this bad decision reversed.
Snetterton
MRO Round 4.
The team were
not able to attend the MRO meeting at Snetterton. We hoped that
results would go our way, so as not to loose too many points to our
rivals.
Qualifying.
Pole position
went to Toby Markham, with Alex Kenchington 2nd and Mark Welch 3rd
on the grid. Our nearest rival - Ian Gardener qualified 5th.
Race 1.
Results.
1st - Alex
Kenchington, 2nd Toby Markham, 3rd Dan Tarratt. Ian Gardener D.N.F.
Race 2.
Results.
1st - Alex
Kenchington, 2nd Toby Markham, 3rd Mark Welch. Ian Gardener 11th.
Conclusions.
We have now
dropped to 5th in the championship, and are now 25 points behind the
championship leader, so in all, the results from Snetterton were as
good as we could have hoped for.
