Andy Mechem; The Story So Far.

Andy has been involved in some form of motorcycle sport since the age of 12. In his time he has won many titles at motocross, sand racing and hill climbs. His highlight so far was in 1992 when aged 18 he won the A.C.U British sand racing championship.

Andy turned to road racing in 1999. He competed in the New Era 250GP class on an ageing Yamaha TZ250. Andy is now riding a Honda RS250, and is considered to be one of the top MRO 250cc GrandPrix racers in the UK.

Below is a history of his story so far.....

 

 

 

2005

After a great start to the season, Andy was forced to miss 3 meetings, but still managed to finish 7th overall.

2004

Finished 2nd in M.R.O 250cc British Championship - 6 podiums in 9 races.

2003

Finished 7th in M.R.O 250cc British Championship.

2002

Finished 8th in M.R.O 250cc British Championship.

2001

Could only compete in a few races due to financial restraints.

2000

Finished 2nd in B.M.C.R.C 250cc GP championship.

1999

Started short circuit road racing with New Era.

1993-98

Competed mainly in hill climb events. Andy is still the record holder in the Guernsey and Porthkerris (Cornwall) hill climb events.

1992

A.C.U British 250cc Sand Racing Champion!

1990

Started competing in Hill climb races, 250cc record holder in Guernsey hill climb!

1989

125cc Guernsey sand racing Champion!

1988

Moved up to 125cc motocross and sand racing competition.

1987

Guernsey 80cc motocross and sand racing Junior Champion!

1986

Started motocross and sand racing aged 12.
